Badagry Root Reconnection and Slave Route Tour with Anago-Osho
Root Reconnection and slave route Tour
Overview: The tour offers experiences that showcase the town’s rich history, particularly its role in the transatlantic slave trade. Here’s what you can expect from this tour. The ancient town is renowned for slave history. Places of interest includes Seriki Abass Slave Museum also known as the Brazilian Baracoon; a slave cell, where slaves were kept. Visit the Mobee Slave relics museum. Badagry Slave Market Museum, Heritage Museum. Wawu Canon Of Slave Abolition. Then continue on boat/ferry to the slave Point of No Return on Gberefu Island. The experience on the Point of No Return is a reconnection to the past. The walk on the Slave Route brings back vivid imagination of the experiences of the ancestors during the trans Atlantic slave trade in Badagry. Water was fetched from the popular well duged in the middle of the slave route and given to the slaves not just to quench their thirst but to make them weak and not be able to think right. Some said the water was drugged or charmed. The Lagos ministry of tourism call the spot, ”the slave spirit attenuation well’’, but Anago Osho calls it, “the well of memory loss”. The Atlantic Ocean and its tide would have been scary to majority of the slaves who were captured from the hinterland.
Remark: Rich tour by an excellent storyteller immersed in cultural relevance. Must try!
