Where is Lagos?

Lagos is a city located in Southwest, Nigeria. It is the biggest and most populous city in Africa. And it is easily accessible from most parts of the world. The latitude of Lagos, Nigeria is 6.5244, and the longitude is 3.3792 and GPS coordinates are 6° 31' 27.765" N and 3° 22' 45.141" E.
The country telephone code is +234. The name for Lagos in the local Yoruba dialect is “Eko” and “Eka Bo” means Welcome. People that live in Lagos are called LAGOSIANS, and they are one of the friendliest people in the world.

Lagos is in the WAT (West African Time) zone. And it is 1 hour ahead of Coordinated Universal Time (UTC + 1) and Greenwich Mean Time (GMT + 1).

Do I need a visa to visit Lagos?

Most countries in Africa do not need a visa to visit Nigeria. For countries in Europe, North America, South America, Middle East, Asia and Australia, a visa is required to visit Nigeria. The visa can be processed online, with fees paid and relevant documents uploaded. With the right steps followed, a tourist (90 days) visa to Nigeria is easy to get.
We advise you to prepare adequately and apply for the visit 60-90 days before you plan to travel depending on your country of origin.

How easy is it to find flights?

Lagos is accessible directly by air from most parts of the world. The airport is called Murtala Mohammed International Airport with “LOS” as its code. You can use LOS to search for the airport on travel sites. The airport which is located on the mainland is about 40 – 1hr 30mins from the hotel/accommodation locations on the island depending on traffic. Is Accommodation easy to get in Lagos?

Yes, accommodation is easy to secure in Lagos through various booking apps and hotel websites. There are many nice hotels in Lagos ranging from 3-star to 5-star properties with amenities tailored to various needs. Moving around in Lagos?

Car rentals are also available in Lagos. Public transportation can be hectic and is not recommended. If you must use public transportation (buses, trains), we advise you to do it with a trusted local in company.

What is the Nigerian Currency, and can I use my credit cards in Lagos?

The currency in Nigeria is called Naira. Naira can be exchanged at the airport, banks or by bureau de change vendors.
In addition, most debit and credit cards (Mastercard, AMEX, Visa, Discover) will work in Nigeria. It is advisable to have multiple cards so if one is not compatible or accepted, you can use the other.
The exchange rate fluctuates but it is always within range.

How expensive is Nigeria?

When compared to other countries in the West, the cost of living in Nigeria is cheaper. For example, a $2 soda in America costs about 30 cents in Nigeria and you can get a good meal in Nigeria for as low as $5. Lagos is about 260 miles (420 Km) from Accra, Ghana. In case you are looking to step into Ghana while in Lagos or vice versa. Accra, (capital of) Ghana is a 1hr flight from Lagos and you can enjoy both unique cities in one vacation if well planned. Are Lagos beaches swimmable?

Yes, depending on the season, most Lagos beaches are swimmable. It is very important to note that most beaches in Lagos do not have lifeguards on duty.

Are Lagos beaches public or private?

There are public and private beaches in Lagos. Some beaches are free to access while others require a small fee. Some of the private beach villas can also be rented.
